  • February 3, 2003: Most of the stolen Aby's recovered.
Thanks to the efforts of many caring and devoted individuals, and one very special border collie named Valorie (from the International K-9 Search and Rescue Services of Portland, OR - www.k9sardog.com), Carolyn Osier has recovered all but two of the stolen cats. It appears all or most of the cats were "dumped" near a dog exercise park in Laguna Niguel, CA.

Karnak has been recovered, and appears to be in good shape considering the ordeal he's undergone. Still missing are Chia (a pregnant female, due to deliver on Feb 20) and Dory (a 4 month old female).

Stay tuned to the NW Region e-mail group for any breaking news, and please keep Carolyn, Chia and Dory in your thoughts and prayers.

  • October 28, 2002: San Diego Show Cancelled
The San Diego Cat Fanciers are sad to report that due to circumstances beyond our control, we have lost our show hall for our January 2003 show. Due to the fact that the Super Bowl is *in* San Diego one week later, all attempts to replace our show hall (and hotel, etc.) were unsuccessful, as San Diego becomes booked up a few weeks in advance of the Super Bowl. It is for these reasons that we must cancel the show.

Encouraging news, but your support still needed!

  • May 30, 2002: California Senate Bill 1373 - It's Not Over Yet!!!
In another strange twist of California legislative maneuvering today on the Senate floor a "rule waiver" was granted to suspend the deadline rules for all pending Senate floor bills. • Attention Exhibitors!
The recent tragedies and resultant changes in air travel for judges and exhibitors has necessitated a change in show rules pertaining to judging at CFA Cat Shows. The following action was taken at the Board meeting held October 6/7, 2001.
Suspend Rule 12.07b. -- a policy for this has already been established, one day shows with 6 rings already have more than four judging per day, and the qualifiers you are allowed to judge more than 225 cats in a day. So with that in mind the CFA Board of Directors suggests the following:
      • Start at 8 a.m. on Sunday, if necessary.
      • More than four judging per day if necessary.
      • More than 225 cats on one day if necessary.
      • Emphasis that a much heavier schedule take place on Saturday.
      • Encourage the judges not to dally and be aware of other judges early flights and yield to them if necessary.
      • Caution the judges about carrying anything that could delay their check-through, which will cause their luggage to be searched.

All of these suggestions are only needed if the club feels that the judge cannot make their plane on Sunday. We must do all we can to help the clubs and adjust whatever rules are necessary in order for them not to be in violation of a show rule.
