RESIGNATION OF Suzi Beedy ACCEPTED

ANNUAL 2006
I was advised several weeks ago, by Central Office that Reno was not going to be a good site for the annual in 2006. The rationale was that two years in a row that gambling would not be appropriate. I did bring the subject up before the board, the annual will be again in Reno, Nevada 2006. We're back on track again.

SHOW RULE CHANGES OCTOBER 2001
12.03c. Any show held on a weekend different from the previous year, must have the written permission of the Regional Director for the region in for which the show is planning to be held. Written permission must accompany the show license application. Shows being held in the International Division must have the authorized signature of the Chairman for the International division if they are applying for a show date different from the previous year's show.

Rationale: shows must be protected from another show infringing on their traditional dates.

28.15 Transfers. A judge may, with the consent of the exhibitor, transfer to another color class any Kitten, Championship, or Premiership entry wrongfully entered, providing that the correct color class has not yet been judged. If a cat is being judged as a color different from the one it was entered, the judge shall indicate the "judged as" color in the judge's book. A judge may transfer to AOV and Kitten or open entry that, in his opinion, does not confirm to the accepted show standard for its breed as described in show rule 1.18b. A transfer from one breed to another breed is not permitted (see paragraph 2.04)

Rationale: Many times a cat has been confirmed as a color that it is not. The exhibitor should have the opportunity to start over immediately should the problem be pointed out at a show by an astute judge that catches the color and/or pattern problem. To merely work the cat wrong color is a waste of the exhibitors money and time and should have been discovered by the judges at the show were the cat competed as an open.

Article XV 15.08e
OLD TEXT
A minimum of twelve (12) -- judging cages must be provided. When a top fifteen (15) final is required, fifteen (15) cages must be provided, whenever space is available. It IS Strongly recommended that (16) or more judging cages be provided in each ring at all shows, whenever possible.

NEW TEXT
A minimum of twelve (12) judging cages must be provided. It is recommended that sixteen (16) or more judging cages are provided in each ring.

Rationale - With clubs having more difficulty finding show halls, reasonably priced or not, this REQUIREMENT is simply not needed. Under the current rule, who is going to give up vendor space of this? Being able to get all 15 kittens up at once is not going to reduce judging time for show. Doing kitten finals in two parts causes fewer conflicts, not more. Since only some of the kittens are up at once, each part of the final ties up fewer kittens for a shorter period of time. The extra cages help more for a shorter period of time. The extra cages help more for the class judging than finals. This needs to be kept OPTIONAL, NOT A REQUIREMENT, THAT HURTS CLUBS and opens doors for protest.

ARTICLE XV 15.08 h Cages in judging rings must be placed on tables or other solid support, which, are at least as deep and wide as the cage bases. Collapsible trestles are not acceptable.

Rationale. Some clubs are using tables that are only 18 inches deep to support cage bases that are 24 inches deep. The overhang combined with the weight of large breed cats has repeatedly caused the judging cages to fall off the tables. Endangering the cats.

ARTICLE XIII 13.03 The position of entry clerk must not be a person who shares address, phone number, or any other accessibility of information with any of the contracted judges.

Rationale - in regard to show rule 27.06. Which states A judge must not have access to a catalog prior to the completion of all judging duties and the transfer of a completed set of judges color class sheets and finals sheet to the master clerk.

The perceived ability of the entry clerk and judge sharing the same household gives undeniable access to catalog information prior to the completion of judging responsibilities of that judge. This show rule needs to be adopted to support rule 27.06.

Show rule 12.07a 2 A minimum 12 judging cages per ring is required where a total SPECIALTY ring will reside and 16 judging cages required for rings that will be judged as an Allbreed.

Rationale - Show Rule 12.07 (a)(2) requires 16 cages in all rings. Out here we occasionally see single-specialty rings. The request was to modify this rule to apply to Allbreed and Double-Specialty rings use fewer cages. We have a few halls that barely hold 225, and it would make it easier to use Single-Specialty judges if the rings didn't need so many cages.

Show rule 1.04.01 "Cats transferred to Championship or Premiership after the first day of a two day show will be counted as a Champion or Premier in all rings.

Rationale - Clarification.

Show rule 1.17.01 Add "and Maritime Provinces of Canada".

Rationale: Housekeeping - this rule was not updated when Show Rule #1.19 changed.

Show rule 2.11 Add "after the specified hour on the advertised date for the closing of entries, or after the advertised limit of entries has been reached."

Rationale - Housekeeping. Clubs are often specifying a closing time of noon or 4pm or 6pm on their closing date on their show fliers. This show rule currently mandates that they stay open until midnight and needs changing.

FELINE RESCUE
The Feline Rescue Network Salutes the US Military!

Help our military have their Cat to come home to!

TO: MILITARY PERSONNEL SEEKING FOSTER FOR A PET

The information below pertains only to fosters for your cats. If you are looking for a foster for a dog or bird, click here.

We hope to help support your efforts and sacrifice by providing some options for in home foster placement of your cat or cats during the time you are called up and unable to be with your pet. Please be aware that these offers of fosters have not been screened, but we've asked them to provide pertinent screening information to facilitate your finding a good home for your cat while you are gone.

CONTRACTS: You will need to discuss financial arrangements for the cat with the person offering foster. The Feline Rescue Network is offering this service at no charge. We are offering a contract for your use to spell these and other issues out in order to help prevent misunderstandings or surprises down the road. The majority of the people offering these foster placements are good hearted and patriotic people who want to support all of you in our military and our government and so, in this time of need, they are offering to help you to be able to return to your cat rather than being forced to place them in a shelter. However, not all people may be honest. and you do need to have pertinent information to choose and to be careful in your selection.

CAT RESUME: To help assure there are no unmet expectations that may cause problems while you are away and that the "fit" is right between you, your cat, and the foster home, we suggest that you provide a "cat resume" to potential foster homes providing information about your cat.

ABOUT PUREBRED CATS: Many people are not aware of the vagaries & needs of specific breeds, so if you have a Purebred cat please do contact us to help with screening the home and arrangements. We also have the names of cat fanciers who are expert in one or many breeds offering foster in some areas.

PET INSURANCE: It is STRONGLY advised you get low cost pet insurance to cover veterinary costs while you are away. Pet Insurance Now has rates that are extremely affordable, and has informed us that their present low rate will be even lower in about 10 days. Please check their site for details of what they do and do not cover and for their prices. If you sign up with your name and credit card information and put your address as "C/O" the name of the foster person with the foster person's address, the foster home will be able to submit veterinary claims on your cat directly for payment.

SCREENING: You will find that we have asked the potential fosterers to provide a lot of information so you can assess the quality of the home and any risk to your animal. For instances, generally people who live in homes they own are less likely to have problems arise from needing to relocate with pets than those who live in apartments.

We suggest you obtain verification of identity and place of employment. If you have any question at all in your mind or heart about how good a home is offered, you can ask for more references or, if there is time, ask to visit the home. It is strongly advised you give preference, if there is a choice, to fosterers working with an established rescue and they have backup and have been screened by experts. Rescues with fosterers are listing on the database. You can find them when you search by state by looking under "Number of years of experience" as they have been told to put RESCUE or the name of their rescue in that field. Please feel free to contact us to help with screening a home if you are concerned at all about the information offered. We will help in any way we can and may be able to use our contacts with rescuers nationwide to arrange for a rescuer to do a home visit to the foster home (and report to you) if there the time.

We strongly recommend that you contact the veterinarian whose reference potential fosterers have been asked to list and obtain their recommendation for the foster home. You may want to also arrange with the veterinarian to pay them directly for any necessary services that your cat may require at that time -- many may be willing to bill your or charge to your credit card, and some may well choose to help support the military by offering services at reduced rates.

HELP TO TRANSPORT YOUR CAT TO YOUR FAMILY OR FOSTER: You will see that some rescuers have offered help with transport of your pets to family or foster homes in our database. They will show RESCUE TRANSPORT in the space for "years of experience." Do check their credentials before arranging transport. Recognized 501(c)3 organizations are preferred. Those offering transport who own registered Catteries in any major association (CFA, TICA, ACFA, CFF) are also very experienced in dealing with any emergency that may arise during transport. Many people are looking for ways to help you in any way possible, but not all people are honest or can be trusted, so do screen transporters well as you would screen fosterers. If you need transport where none is offered. please feel free to contact FelineRescue@FelineRescue.net and we will contact the transport lists and attempt to arrange a transport in time.

SPAY/NEUTER: If your animal is not neutered or spayed, we strongly recommend that you either get it done prior to placement or agree to the foster having it done at your expense soon after the cat is brought to them. It's the responsible thing to do when it comes to owning a cat. We also provide a list of low cost spay and neuter resources.

IF FOSTER CANNOT BE ARRANGED THROUGH SEARCHING OUR DATABASE OR NONE IS AVAILABLE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OR YOU JUST WANT ADVICE: Please do contact us and we will put you in touch with local Allbreed or purebred rescues who may be able to take the cat or arrange foster. We're always happy to advise if we can. CLICK HERE TO SEARCH FOR A FOSTERER FOR YOUR CAT(S) http://www.cupojoe.net/foster_search.html
