Pat Decano will be creating the booklet again this year. Original photos preferred and will be returned ASAP if a stamped addressed envelope is provided. For scanned photos Pat will require: TIFF format, scanned at no less than 200 dpi. Picture should be scanned at full size - NOT reduced to a small size. Pat would like the photos as soon as possible if you know you are going to be a regional winner or have a DM this year. She will need top 25 in Championship, Top 20 in Kittens and Premiership, top Household Pets. Pat will be happy to explain what dpi is or a tiff format. Pat Decano (425) 882-3061 (please call before 9:00PM) pdecano@seanet.com Good luck, Jean Director's Message (June 2002) The Southwest Region hosted the 2002 CFA Annual in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The venue was a wonderful, luxurious, resort setting. Hospitality was as warm as the climate with generous hospitality each night in a different theme with abundant food and libations. Thanks are extended to the Southwest Region for the excellent hospitality. Everyone appreciated the planning and hard work that went into this well-run event. I would like to thank Lorna Malinen for the past four years as Regional Director. She was always quick and competent to help and organize all the regional functions. The job of Director involves all activities of the region and also the functions of a member of the CFA Executive Board of Directors. Either job can be demanding and daunting. Lorna met all these requirements with responsibility and humor. We all owe her a great thank for her devotion to the region. May I extend my respect and admiration to Dennis Ganoe and Pam Moser who also competed for the Regional Directorship, showing they have commitment and a desire to serve the region as well. We are in the planing throes for the CFA Qualifier in October. Thanks go to Dennis Ganoe for anticipating the event and securing the site of the Convention Center in Reno, Nevada as well as the Atlantis Hotel (and Casino) for us. We will keep everyone informed as we firm this up. Becky Sine is going to coordinate the ring decorations and Sheila Ulhman is in charge of club donations for the rosettes. Please help them where you can. Thank you all for your support in the election, it is just the beginning. We will have a small survey to send around in a few weeks. I am interested in your suggestions, complaints and areas of expertise. This is a large region, with members as diverse as our geography and with so much to offer the Northwest Region and CFA.
